What is Web Hosting?
|

Web hosting services like VPI-Net, Inc.
provide a home for your Web Site on computers located in our
facilities. You do not have to spend the money to buy
and maintain a dedicated high speed connection to the Internet
as well as the hardware to support that connection.
Nor do you need to hire a network engineer to install and
maintain web servers, email servers, etc.

Is VPI-Net an ISP?
|
|
|
|
VPI-Net is not an ISP. ISPs provide
their customers with a connection to the Internet usually
through dial-up accounts. Many ISPs also offer web
hosting services. However ISPs cannot offer the level
of support a dedicated web hosting service such as VPI-Net
can offer. Because we put all of our resouces into
our hosting services we can give you the attention you deserve.

Who owns my Domain Name?
|
|
|
|
You maintain ownership of your domain
name when you host your Web Site with VPI-Net. The domain
name is not tied to VPI-Net and if you should decide to move
your web to another service or handle your web in-house your
domain name will move with you.

What if I already have a Domain Name?
|
|
|
|
You can transfer your domain name to
VPI-Net easily. The InterNIC does not charge to move a
domain name to a new hosting service. If you would like
to transfer your domain name to VPI-Net

| Do
I have to register my Domain Name myself?
|
|
|
|
Not at all! VPI-Net makes it
easy for you to register your domain name. If you do not
yet have a domain name and aren't sure which
web hosting service package you would like
to sign up for you can
park your domain on our servers free of charge for 14 days.

Does VPI-Net offer Web design services?
|

Yes! We have quite a bit of
experience designing and developing Web Sites that are
attractive, easy to use, and get the job done. We have

How can I update files on my Web Site?
|
|
|
|
You have several options available to
you to update files on your Web Site. By far the most
popular method is to use a FTP program such as WS_FTP Pro.
FTP programs are easy to use and offer the greatest
compatibility overall.
Another option is to use Microsoft Front Page 98 or Visual
InterDev to update your site. These programs allow you
to create, update, and maintain your web site all in one

We can indeed host International Web
Sites. When you register your international domain name
be sure to inform the domain registrar of our name servers:

Are there any legal issues I need to be aware of?

All services may be used for lawful purposes only. Transmission, storage, or
presentation of any information, data or material in violation of any United
States Federal, State or City law is prohibited. This includes, but is not
limited to: copyrighted material, material we judge to be threatening or
obscene, or material protected by trade secret and other statute. The
subscriber agrees to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims
resulting from the use of the service which damages the subscriber or any
other party.
Special Note:
Pornography, sex-related merchandising or nudity/partial nudity are
prohibited on all VPI-Net, Inc. servers. This includes sites that may infer
sexual content, or link to adult content elsewhere. This is also true for
sites that promote any illegal activity or content that may be damaging to
our servers or any other server on the internet. Links to such materials are
also prohibited.
Examples of non-acceptable content or links:
- Pornographic Materials
- Pirated software
- Hackers programs or archives
- Warez Sites
- Irc Bots
- Copyrighted MP3s without the
express wrtten consent of the copyright holder
In addition any site selling, linking to or promoting Bulk email services is
not permitted.
